The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

Multi-stakeholder forums pool expertise from different perspectives in order to develop solutions to complex problems in a participatory manner. The IPCC plays a central role in the development of the Forest Climate Standard. Since its foundation in 2021, it has acted as an advisory body that makes recommendations on the design of the standard. This gives the Forest Climate Standard legitimacy through the interest groups involved.

Structure

The Wald-Klimarat brings together expertise, interests and practical experience from the following areas:

Forest

Stakeholders from the forest sector contribute their practical experience and expertise and highlight the economic, ecological and social challenges that arise during implementation.

Science & Technology

Stakeholders from the field of science and technology indicate which scientific findings and technical possibilities should be taken into account when designing the minimum requirements.

Public & civil society

The public stakeholder group brings in the views of political institutions, administrations and NGOs / environmental associations. It represents the interests of civil society.

Market

The market group includes those stakeholders who already develop or finance climate protection projects and trade or use their certificates.
