Local forests for global climate protection

The climate performance of the forest and the human contribution to the ecosystem deserve appropriate recognition. With the forest climate standard, eva is creating a quality standard through which forest owners receive financial support from private sources to establish climate-friendly forests.

The application of the standard creates tradable certificates for the voluntary market. Companies can thus actively contribute to tackling climate change: for the preservation of forests in the face of climate change.

The forest climate standard

eva is using internationally experienced experts to develop a scientifically sound standard for Germany that is based on UN guidelines and takes into account the regional requirements for a sustainable forest. Simple application, digital processes and a scalable design save users time and money compared to other standards.

More about the forest climate standard

We have not inherited the earth from our parents - we have borrowed it from our children.

Developing climate protection projects

The forest climate standard with the forest reconstruction method is suitable for farms that have been reforesting calamity areas since September 2021 or are planning to do so. Farms with areas of pure stands can use the forest conversion method to convert them into structurally diverse mixed forests.

Acceptance through dialog

With the founding of the Forest Climate Council, eva has established a multi-stakeholder dialog that combines the interests and practical experience from the forest, market, science & technology and public & civil society sectors.

Certificates from the forest

eva certificates enable the co-financing of climate-resilient forests in Germany through the commitment of companies. Forest owners generate direct income on the voluntary emissions market and companies strengthen regional climate protection projects with their commitment.

What are eva certificates?

The valorization of ecosystem services

"We believe in a future in which we humans once again live in balance with nature and operate within planetary boundaries. That is why the Ecosystem Value Association pursues the goal of putting ecosystem services into value so that it is worthwhile for everyone to preserve nature."

About us

We are currently (2022) living with an increase of 2.3 °C in Germany.

Financing climate-resilient forests will be a Herculean task - state funds alone will not be enough.
